Want to host your own Conan Exiles dedicated server without paying for hosting?
In this guide, we’ll walk through installing a dedicated server on Windows using SteamCMD and our free Craic Mods & Gaming installer.
The installer lets you choose your installation drive, automatically sets up the required folders, and downloads the Conan Exiles server files.
You can use an existing Windows computer or repurpose older hardware, provided it meets the game’s server requirements.
We’ll also cover the manual installation method for anyone who prefers to follow the SteamCMD commands themselves.
Before You Begin
Before installing your Conan Exiles dedicated server, make sure you have a Windows computer with enough available memory and storage to run the server alongside Windows.
You’ll also need:
- A stable internet connection to download the server files through SteamCMD.
- Administrator access to configure Windows Firewall when we reach the networking steps.
- Enough free disk space for the installation, game updates, and saved worlds.
- A dedicated installation location, preferably on a drive with plenty of free space.
You don’t need to purchase a separate computer just to experiment with hosting a private server. An existing PC may work, depending on its specifications and how many players you intend to host.
Our free Conan Exiles installer simplifies the installation process by automatically downloading SteamCMD (if needed), creating the installation directories, and downloading the dedicated server files.

Example Installation Folders
If you select drive C the installer uses:
SteamCMD:C:\Steam-Lab\SteamCMD
Conan Exiles Dedicated Server:C:\Steam-Lab\Craic-Game-Servers\ConanExiles
SteamCMD is installed separately in it’s own folder so it can be reused for other dedicated game servers.
Important
The installer downloads the server files, but it does not automatically configure your server, open Windows Firewall ports, or configure port forwarding on your router.
We’ll cover those tasks separately.
